General Tour Description

Discover Kerala in 7 Days – A Private Round Trip from Kochi

Experience the changing landscapes of Kerala on this 6-night, 7-day Kerala tour from Kochi to Kochi, a private circular journey that combines historic coastal neighbourhoods, mist-covered mountains, wildlife country and traditional backwater cruising.

Designed for travellers arriving and departing through Cochin International Airport, this itinerary offers a practical way to explore four of Kerala’s most celebrated destinations without changing arrival or departure airports.

The holiday begins in Kochi, where colonial-era architecture, waterfront streets and the city’s historic trading connections provide an introduction to Kerala’s multicultural heritage. From the coast, the route ascends into the Western Ghats towards Munnar, where tea-covered slopes, cool mountain air and scenic valleys create a completely different holiday atmosphere.

Two nights in Munnar provide time to explore the region without treating it as a quick photography stop. Continue to Thekkady, known for the protected forests of Periyar, cardamom plantations and traditional cultural experiences, before descending towards Alappuzha for an overnight private houseboat cruise.

One of the highlights is spending the night on the Alleppey backwaters, enjoying freshly prepared Kerala meals and watching daily village life unfold along the waterways. The final hotel night in Kochi provides a convenient ending to the circular route and can be arranged close to the airport for early departures.

With Troper Tours, the journey can be tailored for couples, families, international visitors and travellers seeking comfortable private holidays. Premium accommodation, chauffeur-driven transportation, houseboat standards and sightseeing arrangements are selected according to your confirmed preferences and travel dates.

This Kerala round-trip itinerary is particularly suitable for visitors who want to experience the state’s classic hill-station, wildlife and backwater circuit while keeping their flights in and out of Kochi.

The appearance and volume of the waterfall vary with seasonal rainfall.

Suitable photography stops can be made where road conditions allow.

The changing scenery is one of the main attractions of the Kochi-to-Munnar journey.

The protected landscape includes high-altitude grasslands, mountain scenery and designated visitor areas.

If suitable tickets and timings are available, you may choose an afternoon Periyar Lake boating experience.

The boat journey passes through protected forest surroundings and offers opportunities for observing birds and occasionally other wildlife.

Wildlife sightings are entirely natural and cannot be guaranteed. The boat ride is subject to official ticket availability and operating rules.

Optional Kalaripayattu Show

In the evening, you may attend a Kalaripayattu demonstration.

This traditional martial art of Kerala is known for its dynamic movements, flexibility, weapons training and disciplined performance techniques.

Return to your hotel after the programme.

Troper Tours Scheduling Recommendation

Periyar boating should be considered for today, not automatically scheduled on the next morning. Day 5 requires an early departure to reach the Alleppey houseboat boarding point. Tell us before booking if a Periyar boat experience is a priority, so we can plan the day around available tickets.

Overnight Stay: Thekkady
Day05

Day 5 – Thekkady to Alleppey: Private Houseboat Cruise & Overnight Backwater Stay

Approx. 140–160 km Drive: 4.5–5.5 Hours Stay: Houseboat

Today is one of the most memorable parts of the seven-day Kerala tour.

Depart Thekkady early in the morning, usually around 6:30–7:00 AM, after an early breakfast or packed breakfast arranged with the hotel.

Travel down from the hills towards Alleppey (Alappuzha), one of India’s famous backwater destinations.

Private Houseboat Boarding

Arrive at the designated houseboat boarding point around midday, subject to traffic and road conditions.

Board your private Kerala houseboat and meet the onboard crew.

The crew generally includes a boat operator and cook, with staffing depending on boat category.

Traditional Kerala Lunch Onboard

Enjoy a freshly prepared Kerala-style lunch while the houseboat begins its scenic cruise.

Dietary preferences can be discussed before booking. Your selected meal plan and menu will be confirmed in advance.

Cruise Through the Backwaters

Relax as the houseboat moves through beautiful waterways surrounded by coconut palms, village settlements, paddy fields and traditional homes.

Observe local life along the canals, fishing activities and picturesque sections of the Alleppey backwater system.

The actual cruising route depends on the boat operator, embarkation point, water conditions and local regulations.

Evening Snacks & Dinner

Afternoon tea and snacks are normally served onboard.

By late afternoon or early evening, the houseboat anchors at a designated location.

Enjoy a peaceful evening on the backwaters followed by dinner prepared by the onboard cook.

Overnight on the Houseboat

Spend the night in your private houseboat cabin, surrounded by the calm atmosphere of Kerala’s backwaters.

The air-conditioning schedule depends on the confirmed houseboat category. Some boats operate cabin air-conditioning primarily at night.

Important Houseboat Information

Most overnight Alleppey houseboats begin boarding around noon and check out around 9:00 AM the next day. The boat normally remains anchored overnight. For comparisons with alternative routes and package types, see our complete Kerala tour package collection .

The houseboat may complete a short morning cruise before returning to the boarding point, generally around 9:00 AM.

After disembarking, meet your private driver and return towards Kochi.

Mattancherry Palace

The historic palace is known for its connections with Kochi’s royal family, traditional Kerala architecture and mural paintings.

It is normally closed on Fridays. Museum timings should be checked before the visit.

A visit to the Paradesi Synagogue may be possible depending on opening hours, religious observances and visitor rules.

The synagogue is a significant part of the history of Kochi’s Jewish community.

Check In to Your Kochi Hotel

Later, transfer to your selected Kochi hotel for the final night.

Depending on your departure time the next day, accommodation can be arranged near the airport, in Ernakulam or in Fort Kochi.

Spend the evening at leisure.

Troper Tours Departure Planning Tip

If your Day 7 flight departs early in the morning, we recommend staying close to Cochin International Airport rather than returning to Fort Kochi. This reduces departure-day driving time and helps avoid unnecessary stress.

Overnight Stay: Kochi
Day07

Day 7 – Kochi Departure: Private Airport Transfer & End of Kerala Tour

Departure Day Airport Drop Tour Ends

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, depending on your departure schedule.

After check-out, your driver will transfer you to Cochin International Airport or another confirmed departure location.

Convenient Return to Kochi Airport

This itinerary begins and ends in Kochi, making it suitable for travellers holding a return flight through the same airport.

The final hotel night provides a buffer after the Alleppey houseboat stay, avoiding the need to rush directly from the boat to an early flight.

End of Your Seven-Day Kerala Holiday

Your journey concludes with memories of Kochi’s historic streets, Munnar’s tea-covered mountains, Thekkady’s spice country and Alleppey’s peaceful backwaters.

Troper Tours thanks you for choosing our Kerala travel services and wishes you a pleasant onward journey.

Traveller Questions Answered

Kerala Tour Kochi to Kochi 6N/7D – Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a seven-day Kerala round trip from Cochin Airport? Find practical answers about route planning, houseboat accommodation, Munnar sightseeing, Thekkady boating, hotel stays, private transportation and tour booking.

1. What Is the Starting Price for a Kochi to Kochi Kerala Tour 6N/7D?

The indicative luxury starting price is ₹84,999 per person based on two adults sharing accommodation.

This gives a starting amount of ₹1,69,998 for two adults, excluding applicable GST.

The final quotation depends on the hotels, houseboat category, travel season and services confirmed for your dates.

You can also use our Kerala trip cost calculator for an initial customised estimate.

2. Can We Start and End the Kerala Tour at Kochi Airport?

Yes. This tour is specifically designed for arrival and departure through Cochin International Airport (COK).

This is convenient for travellers who have already booked return flights to Kochi.

3. Is Seven Days Enough to Visit Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey?

Yes. Seven days are sufficient for a well-planned introductory holiday covering these four destinations.

Two nights in Munnar allow a dedicated day of hill-station sightseeing, while one night in Thekkady and the overnight Alleppey houseboat offer contrasting experiences.

The itinerary is best suited to travellers who want the classic Kerala circuit without adding a distant beach destination.

4. How Are the Six Nights Divided Between Destinations?

The tour includes two nights in Kochi, two nights in Munnar, one night in Thekkady and one night in an Alleppey houseboat.

The Kochi nights are split between the arrival day and the final night, making airport transfers more convenient.

5. Is the Alleppey Houseboat Private or Shared?

The proposed premium package includes a private overnight Alleppey houseboat, not a shared group cruise.

The boat typically includes a private cabin, onboard crew, lunch, evening snacks, dinner and breakfast.

The exact boat category, cabin facilities and air-conditioning arrangements will be confirmed before booking.

6. Why Is the Thekkady to Alleppey Transfer Scheduled Early?

Overnight houseboats commonly begin boarding around noon.

The drive from Thekkady to Alleppey can take approximately four and a half to five and a half hours depending on road conditions.

Departing early helps guests arrive in time for the planned lunch and afternoon cruise.

A late arrival may shorten the cruising experience.

7. Is Periyar Wildlife Boating Included in the Thekkady Visit?

Periyar Lake boating may be arranged as an optional experience according to ticket availability.

Because the itinerary includes only one night in Thekkady, the most practical option is generally an available afternoon boat slot on Day 4.

Travellers who specifically want an early-morning wildlife cruise should consider adding an extra night in Thekkady or adjusting the houseboat schedule.

8. What Is the Best Time for a Seven-Day Kerala Tour?

October to March is generally a favourable period for this route, with pleasant conditions for Munnar sightseeing and backwater experiences.

April and May can be warm in Kochi and Alleppey, while monsoon months bring frequent rainfall and possible restrictions on some outdoor attractions.

The best dates depend on your preferred weather, budget and sightseeing interests.

9. Is This Kerala Tour Suitable for Families with Children?

Yes. The route is suitable for families who enjoy varied sightseeing and private travel.

Two nights in Munnar reduce frequent hotel changes, while the private vehicle allows comfortable breaks during long drives.

Families travelling with younger children can request a slower schedule.

Explore our Kerala family tour packages for additional family-focused itinerary options.

10. Can We Upgrade This Tour to Five-Star Hotels and Luxury Resorts?

Yes. Accommodation can be customised according to your preferred hotel category and travel budget.

Higher-category rooms, premium plantation resorts, heritage hotels and upgraded private houseboats can be requested where available.

You can also browse our Kerala luxury holidays for other premium travel experiences.

11. Does the Package Include a Private Driver and Guide?

The proposed tour includes a private air-conditioned vehicle with a professional driver for the agreed route.

A driver and a licensed sightseeing guide are separate services.

Professional guides at selected heritage sites or natural attractions can be arranged where available and specified in the quotation.

12. Is This Kochi Round-Trip Package Suitable for International Tourists?

Yes. Returning to Kochi is convenient for international visitors with return flights through Cochin International Airport.

Troper Tours can coordinate airport transfers, private transport, hotel arrangements and travel assistance throughout the trip.

First-time international visitors can read our Kerala travel-planning guide for international tourists .

13. Can We Replace the Last Kochi Night with a Beach Stay?

Yes. If your flight schedule allows, the final night can be customised to include a coastal stay near Marari or another suitable location.

However, this will affect your departure transfer time and may require a revised quote.

For early flights, an airport-area Kochi hotel is generally more practical.

14. What Happens If Eravikulam National Park Is Closed During Our Trip?

Eravikulam National Park can close during the Nilgiri tahr calving season and under certain weather or operational conditions.

If the park is unavailable during your travel dates, alternative Munnar attractions can be included after discussing your interests.

Your confirmed itinerary will reflect available sightseeing options.

15. How Can We Book the Kochi to Kochi Kerala 6N/7D Package with Troper Tours?

Share your travel dates, number of adults and children, flight details, hotel preferences and any special experiences you would like included.

Troper Tours will prepare a personalised itinerary with hotel and houseboat options and a written quotation.

A 50% advance is normally required to confirm bookings, subject to the agreed payment and cancellation terms.
