Kerala Luxury Ayurveda Retreat 14N 15D

Price From – ₹2,49,999 per person

Tour Activities included

The Kerala Luxury Ayurveda Retreat 15 Days / 14 Nights is a residential treatment programme rather than a tour. It includes an initial consultation and pulse diagnosis with a qualified Ayurvedic physician, a constitution assessment, a personally designed daily treatment schedule across the full Panchakarma sequence, twice-daily therapies with trained therapists, a prescribed vegetarian diet prepared to your physician’s instructions, daily yoga and guided meditation, weekly progress consultations, a closing consultation with a written regimen to continue at home, and fourteen nights’ full board at a Green Leaf classified centre on a quiet stretch of the Kerala coast.

General Tour Description

This is the one page on our site where we begin by telling you what something is not. It is not a spa holiday, not a wellness add-on and not a package of massages with an Ayurvedic name. A genuine Panchakarma programme is a medical process in a traditional system, designed by a physician for your constitution, and for most of the fourteen nights you will not feel like sightseeing.

Fourteen nights is the minimum that allows the full sequence — preparation, the main eliminative therapies, and a properly supervised recovery. Seven-night “Panchakarma packages” are rejuvenation therapy with a more impressive name. Any centre offering full Panchakarma in a week is selling you the first third of it.

You stay in one place for the entire programme. There is no driving, no itinerary and no schedule beyond your treatment times, meals, and yoga in the morning. Most guests read a great deal, sleep more than they expected to, and walk on the beach. That is the design, not a gap in it.

The centre holds Green Leaf classification, awarded by the Kerala Department of Tourism, which requires qualified physicians, trained therapists, proper treatment facilities and prescribed hygiene standards. A great many hotel “Ayurvedic spas” hold no classification at all, and asking for it is the single most useful question in Kerala wellness travel. If you would rather combine a shorter programme with travel, our luxury Kerala holidays range includes a consultation and treatment alongside a touring itinerary.

Tour itinerary

Why This Kerala Ayurveda Retreat Is 14 Nights

The itinerary is deliberately slower than a normal Kerala holiday. The programme moves through preparation, the principal treatment phase and supervised recovery rather than trying to fit Ayurveda around sightseeing. Your actual therapies are decided after consultation and may change during the stay according to the physician’s assessment and your response.

Day 1 — Arrive Cochin, transfer to the retreat

Your driver meets you inside the terminal at Cochin International Airport. It is a little under two hours south to Mararikulam, on flat coastal road. You will be shown your room, given the day’s schedule, and left alone.

No treatment begins today. Long-haul arrivals need a night’s sleep before a physician can make a useful assessment, and starting therapy on the day of a twelve-hour flight would distort the diagnosis. Dinner follows the house diet from the first evening. Overnight at the retreat.

Day 2 — Consultation, diagnosis and your programme

A long first consultation with the Ayurvedic physician: medical history, current medication, sleep, digestion, and Nadi Pariksha, the traditional pulse diagnosis. From this the physician determines your prakriti — your constitutional type — and any current imbalance, and designs the fourteen-day schedule around it.

Bring any recent blood work, a list of prescribed medication with dosages, and details of any surgery or ongoing condition. The physician needs to know all of it, and treatments are modified or withheld accordingly.

Your first treatments usually begin the same afternoon, gently. Yoga and meditation start tomorrow morning. Overnight at the retreat.

Days 3 to 5 — Preparation (Purvakarma)

The preparatory phase, and the part most people expect to be the whole holiday. Snehapanam, internal and external oleation, saturates the tissues with medicated oils. Abhyanga, a full-body synchronised massage by two therapists working in rhythm. Swedana, herbal steam, to open the channels.

Two treatments a day, morning and late afternoon, roughly ninety minutes each. Between them there is nothing scheduled. Mornings begin with yoga at around seven and the prescribed diet starts in earnest — vegetarian, cooked to your physician’s specification, with no alcohol, no caffeine and no cold drinks for the duration.

Most guests find days three to five the easiest and most pleasant of the fortnight. Overnight at the retreat.

Days 6 to 10 — Main therapies (Pradhanakarma)

The central phase, and the reason fourteen nights are necessary. Which of the therapies you receive depends entirely on your physician’s assessment — this is where a designed programme differs from a menu.

The treatments most commonly prescribed include Shirodhara, a continuous stream of warm medicated oil across the forehead; Pizhichil, in which warm oil is poured over the body while two therapists massage; Njavarakizhi, a massage using boluses of medicinal rice; Udvartana, a herbal powder massage; and Nasya, nasal administration of medicated oils. Eliminative procedures such as Virechana or Basti are prescribed only where the physician judges them appropriate.

Be prepared for this phase to be demanding. It is common to feel tired, to sleep a great deal, and to have a day or two of low energy while the body responds. That is expected rather than a sign something has gone wrong, and your physician reviews you throughout. It is also why nothing else is scheduled during these days and why we would not combine this fortnight with touring. Overnight at the retreat.

Days 11 to 13 — Recovery (Paschatkarma)

The supervised return to normal, and the phase most commonly skipped by shorter programmes — which is the main reason people finish them feeling worse than when they arrived.

Treatments become gentler and less frequent. The diet is gradually widened under the physician’s direction, a process known as Samsarjana Krama. Energy typically returns noticeably around day eleven or twelve, and most guests describe the last three days as the point where the fortnight makes sense.

If you feel able, this is when a short outing becomes reasonable — the fishing boats landing in the morning, the coir weaving co-operatives, or simply a longer walk on the beach. Nothing is required. Overnight at the retreat.

Day 14 — Closing consultation

A final consultation with the physician, a second pulse reading, and a written regimen to continue at home: dietary guidance for your constitution, daily routine, and any preparations prescribed for you. You can order the medicines through the centre.

The physician will also advise when to return if a follow-up programme would help. Traditionally these are done annually or at seasonal changes rather than continuously. The afternoon is free. Overnight at the retreat.

Day 15 — Departure

Just under two hours back to Cochin International Airport. We recommend leaving three and a half hours before an international departure.

One piece of practical advice that matters more after Panchakarma than after a normal holiday: keep the diet light for the first week home, avoid alcohol for a fortnight if you can, and do not book anything strenuous for the first few days. The physician will tell you the same thing, and the people who follow it are the ones who keep the benefit.

What to Bring for Your Ayurveda Retreat

Arriving with the right medical information makes the first consultation more useful and helps the physician decide which therapies are appropriate for you.

Recent medical information: Bring recent blood work or relevant reports if you have them.
Medication list: Carry the names and current dosages of all prescribed medicines.
Medical history: Tell the physician about previous surgery, ongoing conditions and significant allergies.
Comfortable clothing: Bring lightweight, loose clothing suitable for treatments, yoga and quiet days at the retreat.

Important Health Information

Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine and individual treatment plans vary. This retreat should not replace emergency care, necessary medical treatment or advice from your regular doctor. Do not stop or change prescribed medication unless the clinician responsible for that medication advises you to do so. Your Ayurvedic physician should be given a complete medical history before treatment, and specific therapies may be modified or declined where they are not considered appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions – Kerala Luxury Ayurveda Retreat

Is this a spa holiday?

No. A spa treatment is chosen from a menu and designed to feel good. This is a physician-designed medical programme in a traditional system, and parts of it will not feel like a holiday — particularly days six to ten, when tiredness and low energy are normal and expected.

If what you want is massage and relaxation in a beautiful place, say so and we will book you a shorter rejuvenation programme or a luxury itinerary with treatments included. Both are entirely legitimate choices and considerably more enjoyable. We would rather place you correctly than have you arrive expecting the wrong thing.

Why fourteen nights? Can it be shorter?

Because the sequence has three phases and all three are necessary. Preparation takes three to five days, the main therapies five to seven, and supervised recovery at least three. Compress it and something gets dropped — almost always the recovery phase, which is why people finish week-long “Panchakarma packages” feeling depleted.

We can arrange seven or ten-night rejuvenation programmes, and for many people they are the right choice. We will simply call them what they are rather than describing them as Panchakarma.

Is monsoon really the best time for Ayurveda?

Traditionally, yes. The Malayalam month of Karkidakam, roughly mid-July to mid-August, is the classical treatment season. The reasoning is that humidity and cooler air open the body’s channels and make it more receptive to the oils, and it is when Keralan families have historically taken their own treatments.

Practically it also means fewer guests, more physician attention and lower rates. The trade-off is heavy afternoon rain and a sea too rough to swim in — neither of which matters much on a programme where you are indoors being treated. October to March works perfectly well too. Our month-by-month guide to the best time to visit Kerala covers the weather in detail.

What is the diet, and how strict is it?

Vegetarian, freshly cooked, warm, and prescribed by your physician for your constitution. No alcohol, no caffeine, no cold or iced drinks, and no food from outside the centre for the fortnight. Portions are moderate and meals are at fixed times.

It is strict, and it is not negotiable, because the diet is part of the treatment rather than a house rule. Most guests find the first three days difficult and stop noticing after that. If you have allergies, intolerances or religious requirements, tell us at enquiry and the kitchen will work around them.

Can my partner come without doing the programme?

Yes, and many do. Your partner can take a separate shorter programme, a rejuvenation package, or simply stay at the retreat without treatments at a reduced rate.

One thing to be realistic about: the diet applies to the whole property, the evenings are quiet, and there is no bar. A partner expecting a conventional beach holiday will be bored by day four. Someone who wants to read, swim, do yoga and be left alone will have an excellent fortnight.

Is there anyone this is not suitable for?

Yes. Panchakarma is generally not undertaken during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, during acute illness or fever, immediately after surgery, or in some cases alongside particular ongoing medical treatment. Several individual therapies are also modified or withheld depending on age, blood pressure and existing conditions.

Discuss the programme with your own doctor before booking, and bring recent blood work and a full list of medication with you. The physician here will review everything on day two and will adapt or decline specific treatments where appropriate. That is a sign of a properly run centre, not an inconvenience.

Can we travel around Kerala afterwards?

Afterwards, yes — not during. We would not schedule sightseeing inside the fourteen nights, because the middle phase leaves most people without the energy for it and because leaving the property disrupts the diet.

What works well is adding a week of travel at the end, when your energy has returned. A short circuit through the backwaters and hills, or the northern coast, pairs naturally — see our 12-day end-to-end luxury itinerary or the broader Kerala tour packages range. Tell us at enquiry and we will build the two as one trip with a single vehicle and driver.

How far ahead should we book?

Three to four months for the October to March season, and six months for Karkidakam in July and August, which is the busiest period at serious centres. Good physicians have limited capacity and the number of guests under treatment at any time is deliberately capped, so this is not a product where late availability is common.

What should I bring to the first Ayurveda consultation?

Bring a complete list of current medication and dosages, recent blood tests or relevant medical reports if available, and details of previous surgery or ongoing medical conditions. Do not leave something out because it seems unrelated. The physician uses this information together with the consultation to decide which treatments are appropriate and which should be modified or avoided.

Will everyone receive the same Ayurveda treatments?

No. The itinerary describes therapies commonly used during longer Ayurveda programmes, but it is not a guaranteed treatment list. Your programme is decided after consultation and can be adjusted during the retreat according to the physician’s assessment, your medical history and how you respond to treatment.

To Put In A Nutshell Our family road trip of Tamil Nadu with Troper Tours was well planed from day 1 to day end. We travelled in full comfort to beautiful heritage sites, tranquil villages and fascinating cultural sites. Each location was beautiful in its own way, and the itinerary allowed for ample time to enjoy each spot without being rushed. The vehicle was clean and spacious, which is well suited for our family, as to our guide he is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We particularly liked well-coordination throughout the journey, timely and timely service without fail, effort on every detail. We discovered the legacy of Tamil Nadu there and how it is deeply rooted in tradition, but in a relaxed manner thanks to Troper Tours. It would have made our decision easier had we chosen them for our next South India holiday too.

Troper Tours organized an amazing Tamil Nadu itinerary for our group of 6. Each place was special, whether it be interesting historical sites or local markets to vibrant countryside and cute towns. This was planned nicely with fast paced itinerary, allowing time to explore, click pictures and soak in the culture without being too hurried. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who was more than happy to explain the history and customs of every place we visited. The car was clean, comfortable and even the longer journeys were not bad. We also appreciated the excellent planning, hospitality and personal attention throughout the trip. It truly was an experience we will never forget and I would recommend Troper Tours to anyone who is planning a Tamil Nadu holiday.
