The Kerala Honeymoon Package 7 Days / 6 Nights includes more than 14 couple-focused activities. General Tour Description

Seven days is the length at which a Kerala honeymoon stops feeling like sightseeing and starts
feeling like a holiday. This route gives you two nights in Munnar’s tea country at 1,600 metres, where
the evenings are genuinely cool and the mornings come with mist off the valleys; a night at Thekkady
where the wildlife is close enough to reach by boat before breakfast; a night on a private houseboat
with your own crew and a candlelight dinner as the boat moors; and two nights on the coast at
Kovalam, close enough to Trivandrum airport that the last day is not spent driving. Nothing is repeated
and only one drive exceeds four hours. Every room is booked as a honeymoon room, and the flower
bed decoration and the houseboat dinner are included rather than sold as an upgrade on arrival.

Tour itinerary

Your driver meets you at Cochin airport or railway station and you head east into the hills — about
four hours, climbing past the Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls where the road switches back on
itself and the air begins to cool. By the time you reach Munnar at 1,600 metres the temperature has
dropped roughly ten degrees and the whole valley smells of eucalyptus and tea. Check in to your
honeymoon room with a tea-garden view; flower bed decoration is arranged before you arrive. The
evening is yours. Overnight in Munnar.

After breakfast the choice is genuinely yours. The full circuit takes in Eravikulam National Park and its
Nilgiri tahr, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point and the Tea Museum. Or skip the circuit and walk an estate
trail instead — for a honeymoon, most couples prefer the second, and we will tell you which
viewpoints are quiet at which hour. One thing worth knowing: Eravikulam closes for roughly February
and March each year during the tahr calving season, and if you travel then we substitute Top Station
for the valley views. Overnight in Munnar.

A three-hour drive south-east through cardamom country, the road narrowing as the tea gives way to
spice. At Thekkady you are on the edge of the Periyar Tiger Reserve, and the afternoon is for a
guided spice plantation walk — cardamom, pepper, vanilla, nutmeg, most of it growing in the same
few square metres. In the evening, a Kathakali performance or a Kalaripayattu martial arts
demonstration, both about an hour and both worth seeing once. Overnight in Thekkady.

An early start for the first boat of the day on Periyar Lake, around 7am — it is the slot where
elephants and gaur actually come to the water, and it is the reason we put you in Thekkady overnight
rather than passing through. Back for breakfast, then a four-hour drive west and down to Alleppey.
You board a private one-bedroom houseboat around midday — your own crew and chef, not a
shared boat — and cruise Vembanad Lake and the narrower village canals through the afternoon.
The boat moors near a village by about 5:30pm and dinner is served on deck by candlelight.
Overnight on the houseboat.

Breakfast on board, then disembark around 9am and drive four hours south along the coast to
Kovalam. Check in to your beachfront hotel and take the afternoon slowly. Kovalam is really three
beaches in a row — Lighthouse, Hawa and Samudra — and the walk between them at sunset, with
the lighthouse coming on above you, is the reason most couples remember this stop. Swim between
the flags where lifeguards are posted. Overnight in Kovalam.

Nothing scheduled before lunch. In the afternoon, a short drive into Trivandrum for the
Padmanabhaswamy Temple and the Napier Museum, and the covered markets if you want to bring
something home. One practical note on the temple: the dress code is strictly enforced — men must
wear a dhoti with no shirt, and women a saree or long skirt with a blouse. Dhotis can be hired at the
entrance, and your driver will point you to the counter. Back to Kovalam for a beachside dinner.
Overnight in Kovalam.

A slow breakfast, then the transfer to Trivandrum airport — only forty minutes from Kovalam, which is
why this route ends here rather than driving five hours back to Cochin on your last morning. If you
have a late flight, we can arrange a day-use room or a final couple of hours on the beach.

Frequently Asked Questions – Kerala Honeymoon Package 7 Days

Is the houseboat private or shared?

Private. You get a one-bedroom boat with your own crew and chef, and all meals cooked on board.
Shared houseboats exist and cost noticeably less, but we do not book them for honeymoons — this
package is priced on a private boat throughout. If you are comparing quotes elsewhere, that is the first
thing worth asking, because the price difference between shared and private is usually the whole
difference between two quotes.

Will the houseboat air conditioning run all night?

Yes, overnight. Air conditioning on Kerala houseboats runs off a generator, and generators typically run
from around 9pm to 6am — so the cabin is comfortable while you sleep but warm during the afternoon
cruise. If you are travelling in April or May, tell us and we will book a boat with daytime AC; a small number
have it and they cost more. It is the single most common thing couples are surprised by, and nobody
mentions it. ReadKerala Houseboat Guide

Is seven days enough for a Kerala honeymoon?

It is the length most couples settle on, and it works because nothing has to be cut. You get two nights in
the hills, a night in wildlife country, a night on the water and two on the coast, with only one drive over four
hours. Five nights means dropping either Thekkady or the second beach night. Ten days would add
Kumarakom or Varkala at a slower pace — ask us if you have the time.

What honeymoon extras are included, and what costs more?

Flower bed decoration in Munnar and one candlelight dinner on the houseboat deck are included in the
price you are quoted. Cake, a couples photoshoot, a private sunset cruise, a spa session or a room
upgrade can all be added — tell us at enquiry and they go into your written quote rather than being offered
to you at the hotel desk on arrival.

When is the best time for a Kerala honeymoon?

October to March for reliable weather across hills, backwaters and coast. If you are travelling between 20
December and 5 January, book eight to ten weeks ahead — Munnar rooms and private houseboats
genuinely sell out and rates roughly double. June to August is monsoon: dramatically green, far quieter
and the cheapest time of year, and some couples much prefer it, though expect afternoon rain in the hills.

Can we change the route or add days?

Yes — this is a starting point, not a fixed product. The two most common changes are swapping Kovalam
for Varkala or Poovar, and adding two nights at Kumarakom between the houseboat and the coast. Some
couples also drop Thekkady for an extra night in Munnar. Tell us what matters most to you and we will
rebalance the nights rather than simply adding them.

To Put In A Nutshell Our family road trip of Tamil Nadu with Troper Tours was well planed from day 1 to day end. We travelled in full comfort to beautiful heritage sites, tranquil villages and fascinating cultural sites. Each location was beautiful in its own way, and the itinerary allowed for ample time to enjoy each spot without being rushed. The vehicle was clean and spacious, which is well suited for our family, as to our guide he is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We particularly liked well-coordination throughout the journey, timely and timely service without fail, effort on every detail. We discovered the legacy of Tamil Nadu there and how it is deeply rooted in tradition, but in a relaxed manner thanks to Troper Tours. It would have made our decision easier had we chosen them for our next South India holiday too.

Troper Tours organized an amazing Tamil Nadu itinerary for our group of 6. Each place was special, whether it be interesting historical sites or local markets to vibrant countryside and cute towns. This was planned nicely with fast paced itinerary, allowing time to explore, click pictures and soak in the culture without being too hurried. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who was more than happy to explain the history and customs of every place we visited. The car was clean, comfortable and even the longer journeys were not bad. We also appreciated the excellent planning, hospitality and personal attention throughout the trip. It truly was an experience we will never forget and I would recommend Troper Tours to anyone who is planning a Tamil Nadu holiday.
