The Kerala Deep Dive 12 Days tour is designed for travellers who want a slow, immersive and meaningful exploration of Kerala’s landscapes and culture. Beginning in Cochin and stretching through the misty hills of Munnar, the wildlife haven of Thekkady, the peaceful meadows of Vagamon, the calming backwaters of Kumarakom and Alleppey, and the stunning beaches of Varkala and Kovalam, this itinerary showcases Kerala at its best. With a careful balance of activities, leisure and scenic drives, Troper Tours ensures travellers experience Kerala’s nature, cuisine, heritage and warmth at a relaxed and enjoyable pace over 12 beautiful days.
Arrive at either Cochin airport or railway station and there will be our man to greet you warmly. Start with a leisurely Cochin tour to cover Marine Drive, the shoreline of Fort Kochi, the old Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church and the tangibly antiquated streets in Jew Town. In the evening for dinner there is a choice of either a Kathakali or Kalaripayattu performance. Afterwards check in at your hotel for a quiet night of rest, and prepare now to extend your exploration of Kerala in this land of backwaters.
Once breakfast is over, head to the beautiful Athirappilly and Vazhachal waterfalls, set in a forest with thick underbrush. You can photograph them to your heart’s content and enjoy leisurely strolls in nature before making your way to Munnar. The drive will see you travelling through misty mountains, tea plantations and narrow valleys, with the Cheeyappara and Valara scenic waterfalls on the way. Your accommodation for the evening is in fact a resort in Munnar and just when things could not be better, you find that the fresh mountain air is delicious.
Have a visit to the Tea Museum to start your day, where you can read and learn about The Kerala Story. Consider going further with its positive effects by taking tea in Mattupetty Dam as you row on the water, at Echo Point when you can enjoy glistening lakes and tall mountains reflected back twice over from their depths and Kundala Lake for serene landscape photography.Walk through tea gardens and mountainous viewpoints.A serene day can be enjoyed in the mild climate and green countryside.Evening brings the opportunity to buy spices, chocolates or natural oils, things you just cannot get at home. Then back to your resort.
Today sees you journey to Marayoor, with its sandalwood forests and prehistoric dolmens. Traverse the rough open dry-forest landscape and then pass into Chinnar wildlife zone, where you may see deer, monkeys, and a variety of birds. Enjoy scenic viewpoints and nature stops before returning to Munnar for the evening. Today will be different from mainstream routes. You will see a special side of Kerala.
After breakfast, drive to Thekkady through spice-growing villages and cardamom plantations. Upon arrival, check into your resort and visit a spice plantation for an informative guided walk. Later, enjoy elephant interaction centres, Kathakali shows or martial arts demonstrations. Evening free for shopping organic spices and homemade chocolates. Overnight at Thekkady.
We will begin early this morning with the famous Periyar Lake boat trip. The opportunity to spot elephants, bison and our birdlife on those lake banks is one you must experience for yourself. Downstroke hard After boating, you can choose to have optional activities such as a nature walk, bamboo rafting or jeep safari. The rest of the day is devoted to any course relaxing in your resort or to exploring local markets. Stay overnight in Thekkady.
Drive to Vagamon, a peaceful hill destination known for rolling green meadows, pine forests and mist-covered hills. Visit Vagamon Meadows, Pine Valley and scenic viewpoints. Optional activities include paragliding and off-road jeep rides, based on your interest. Check into your resort overlooking the hills and enjoy a quiet evening surrounded by nature.
You can spend the night at Kumarakom on the Vembanad Lake, perhaps after breakfast. Take a leisurely stroll in the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where you may see the occasional migrant bird. It’s time to check in at your resort facing the elegant lake and chill out by water. During this leisurely interval, you will see from shadow to shadow the glowing splendor of the sunset. If you prefer Ayurvedic massages or canoes, given the fact that your choice has been made of ways to spend one’s time, why not follow suit? Stay overnight on Kumarakom.
After breakfast, check out the hotel and head to Alleppey. Just wait until you get there-your own private houseboat is ready and waiting. Cruise slowly through backwater canals, paddy fields and village networks. On board, your chef is preparing fresh Kerala food. With the breeze blowing in from the water and a village slipping past amid fields of grain, you are relaxing on this deck that moves but does not move perhaps I should say floating just inside time itself. When the sun sets, take time for a moonlit walk or relax in peace on the lake. Overnight on board.
Disembark from the houseboat after breakfast and drive to Kollam, a peaceful lakeside destination. Visit Thangassery Lighthouse, Kollam Beach and local markets. Evening optional boating or sunset viewpoint visit. Check into a lakeside resort for an overnight stay.
Today, we will visit Varkala-the beautiful cliff side beach of Kerala. It has dramatic views and vibrant cafes – it’s a great place for relaxation as well. This afternoon, head out to the cliff tops and simply relax. Walking along the beach and doing some light shopping are 2 other excellent ways to spend your afternoon. Then continue on for Trivandrum. Based on time, visit Napier Museum and Art Gallery or Kovalam lighthouse beach before check-in comfort. Overnight stay at Trivandrum.
After breakfast, depending on your flight timing, visit Padmanabhaswamy Temple or enjoy last-minute shopping. Our team then drops you at Trivandrum Airport with warm farewell greetings and unforgettable memories from your deep dive through Kerala.
