World tourism day in 2022 held on September 27 .World Tourism Day has been held on 27 September each year since 1980. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the Organization in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of (The World Tourism Organization ) UNWTO five years later.
Tourism can be recognized as long as people have travelled; the narrative of Marco Polo in the 13th century; the “grand tour” of the British aristocracy to Europe in the 18th century; and the journeys of David Livingstone through Africa in the 19th century are all examples of early tourism.
The theme for 2022 is ‘Rethinking Tourism‘ and will be highlighting the tourism sector being recognized as an important pillar for development.
Indonesia is the host country for World Tourism Day 2022, and the celebrations begin in Bali. The tourism sector will design its celebrations around the theme of Rethinking Tourism
